Tocumwal September 14-16 2018

Last weekend we had our annual trip away to Tocumwal

15 players hit the course on Friday arvo on a nice windy 23 degree day

$5 in the kitty winner took all and it was Shane Johnstone with 37 pts that prevailed

Nice dinner had by all at the club then sat down to the Melbourne v Hawthorn game

Breakfast at 7am on Saturday then the real 2 day game for the trophy began

Saturday started with 22 players and was quite breezy with a top of 16

Some excellent scores were had with defending Champion Ian Storey bolting out of the gates with a 41 to win the daily comp, Graeme Davis and Brett Somerville had 38 pts , Warner Cupido had 37 pts with Shane Johnstone (Winner 2015/2016) on 36 points with a couple of others. New Life member Gloria and new President Harry bought up the tail with well compiled 18 pts a piece.

Day 2 Commenced in beautiful sunny conditions at a rather brisk 4 degrees, it warmed up to 10 but the sun stayed out so that was a bonus

for the individual comp of the day Mike Leeds stormed around the front nine in 26 pts ( 1 under par) but couldn’t maintain it and finished the day with 41 pts

Gloria who shared the NAGA on day 1 turned the tables and won the daily comp with 42 pts

For the trophy Ian Storey shot 33 pts and Shane Johnstone had 37 pts meaning the defending Champion Ian Storey finished on 74 pts with Shane 1 pt behind with 73 pts ( the same result as last year) Mike Leeds came in third with 71 Pts

Harry Naidu took home the NAGA with a magnificent 47 pts over the 2 days

Frances Evans won the main raffle prize donated by Keith

Overall a great weekend away and one that should not be ignored by the members, try and make an effort next year , you wont regret it

special thanks to Russell and Keith for the organisation of the weekend and prizes

Thanks to all the players that supported the weekend away.

Regards Mark Sutherland
