Season’s greetings all from your Captain.
‘Tis the time of the Xmas hams once again, and I have the pleasure of announcing the winners for 2012. Trying to hide in his photograph is Dennis O’Donnell who won on Wednesday 19/12 to the cries of “we’ll all come around and help you eat it Dennis”. Well done Dennis.
On Saturday 22/12 the Club had it’s annual Xmas bbq. I would very much like to thank the Executive for their help in arranging a successful and fun day.
In particular I would like to thank Mark Sutherland and Harry Naidu who volunteered to cook, and also Graeme Johnson and Neil Smith who checked the cards. All four were last to eat.
The winning pair on the day were Roger Hastings with partner Winston Gale (52 points) who can be seen receiving their hams kindly donated by Gloria Stewart (in place of Rick Corbett) and Laurie West. Our thoughts were with Rick Corbett who through his illness could not be present on the day. We wish him all the best. It was also pleasing to see John Catton and Ron Ferguson back at the Club after enforced breaks.
Sunday’s popular individual winner was Matt Ocean (plus 4). Once again we enjoyed a bbq in hot conditions cooked by Mark, but with plenty of cool drinks. (David, why don’t you eat the non-food value burgers we buy for you?). It was pleasing to see so many members in attendance on both days enjoying themselves.
